Assurant Statement on Leadership Transitions at Employee Benefits and Health Business Segments

NEW YORK, May 22, 2015-As Assurant continues to realign its business portfolio and explore strategic alternatives for its employee benefits and health business segments, the Company announced the appointment of Marc Warrington as president of Assurant Employee Benefits and Jennifer Kopps-Wagner as executive vice president and chief operations officer of Assurant Health, effective June 1, 2015. Warrington and Kopps-Wagner succeed Adam D. , who is stepping down from his role as president and CEO of Assurant Health and Assurant Employee Benefits. will remain with Assurant through the end of May 2015 to support Warrington and Kopps-Wagner as they move into their new roles.

Warrington joined Assurant Employee Benefits in 1996 and has held several leadership roles within the sales division. Since 2005, he has served as senior vice president of sales and as a member of Assurant Employee Benefit’s Senior Management Team. 

Kopps-Wagner joined Assurant Health in 1999, holding a succession of positions in the company's legal department. She has served as Assurant Health’s senior vice president and general counsel since July 2008 and as chief of strategy for Assurant Health and Assurant Employee Benefits since Jan. 2015. 

About Marc Warrington

J. Marc Warrington is the incoming president of Assurant Employee Benefits, effective June 1, 2015. Currently, Mr. Warrington serves as senior vice president of sales.

Mr. Warrington joined Assurant Employee Benefits in 1996 as district sales director
in the Orange County, California sales office. He was named regional sales director of the Houston sales office in 1999 and regional sales manager later that year. In 2001, Mr. Warrington was appointed vice president and, in 2003, he was named president of sales. He was named vice president of sales in 2005.

Mr. Warrington began his career with Unum as a sales representative in Los Angeles. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cornell University in 1989.

About Jennifer Kopps-Wagner

Jennifer Kopps-Wagner is the incoming executive vice president and chief operations officer, Assurant Health, effective June 1, 2015. Currently, she serves as senior vice president, general counsel for Assurant Health and chief of strategy for Assurant Health and Assurant Employee Benefits. 

Since joining Assurant Health in 1999, Ms. Kopps-Wagner has held a series of positions in the Legal Department. As vice president – Legal, she provided support and counsel for the product lines and operations areas and played a key role in several Individual Medical product launches and initiatives. Since 2008, when she was appointed vice president and general counsel, Assurant Health, Ms. Kopps-Wagner has had overall responsibility for the segment’s legal affairs. Among other contributions, she and her team have advised on and helped to implement the many changes brought about by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Ms. Kopps-Wagner received her Bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee and her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In recognition of her outstanding achievement in the practice of law, she was named one of Wisconsin Law Journal 's 2011 Women in the Law.
