Receives organization’s top recognition for gender diversity on its Board of Directors

Assurant was recently named a Winning “W” company by 2020 Women on Boards, a national campaign dedicated to increasing the percentage of women on corporate boards to 20 percent by 2020. It is the fourth consecutive year that Assurant has received this distinguished recognition.

With 30 percent of its board of directors currently consisting of women, Assurant sits among some of the top U.S. public companies that have met or surpassed the benchmark set by 2020 Women on Boards. Assurant’s board is led by Chair Elaine Rosen, who has held that position since 2010.

“The contributions of our female directors have been crucial to Assurant’s success and validate our recognition by 2020 Women on Boards,” said Alan Colberg, president and CEO of Assurant. We are committed to greater diversity and inclusion at all levels of our organization as one of the key enablers of our strategy and our aspiration for long-term outperformance.”

To compile their list, 2020 Women on Boards uses the Fortune and Russell indexes to identify active companies, then classifies them by four categories based on the percentage of women board members. The 'W' designation recognizes companies whose board membership is 20 percent or more female.

Assurant is among the hundreds of companies that also signed the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge, an effort led by CEOs committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
