Assurant was recently recognized with the Project of the Year Award at Pink Elephant’s IT Excellence Awards. The award is given out annually by Pink Elephant, a premier global training, consulting and conference service provider, to organizations that have demonstrated significant commitment to industry best practice frameworks.

One of four finalists for the award, the risk management solutions provider earned the recognition for implementing an automated IT service platform in a little over a year. The service management tool powers system access to hardware, software and help desk requests for more than 3,000 users, supporting employees in eight countries.

“We are thrilled to be recognized with this award and proud of our team’s effort in working across the organization to implement a solution that has significantly increased our efficiency and is enabling the company’s continued growth,” said Robert Lewis, senior vice president and chief information officer of Assurant.

Each year at their annual International IT Service Management Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Pink Elephant honors the industry’s best project, innovation, practitioner and case study of the year. The finalists for each category are chosen from a collection of nominations submitted by individuals and organizations from across the globe. The winners are then selected based on how successfully their project:

  • Addressed a critical need for the business
  • Based solution on rigorous analysis
  • Included an organizationally broad scope
  • Achieved desired outcomes addressing specific business requirements
  • Delivered measurable business benefits
  • Effectively managed organizational change

The award win marked the second time in the past few years that Assurant’s information technology team has earned recognition for its efforts to improve IT processes within the company.

In 2013, Assurant won the Information Technology Service Management Forum (itSMF) USA’s 2013 Project of the Year Award. The national industry association dedicated to IT service management recognized the team for implementing and providing improved IT support processes for Assurant’s businesses and employees via its virtual organization.
